Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan launched the India Valve Registry at India Valves 2026 in Chennai. The collaborative multicentre initiative is designed to collect real-world data on transcatheter valve interventions across India, aiming to strengthen India-specific clinical evidence and improve patient care.
The Vice-President inaugurated the Advanced Instrumentation Facility at the Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility/Central Instrumentation Laboratories (SAIF/CIL), Panjab University, Chandigarh, and the Panjab University Tech Innovation Forum (PU-TIF). The five installed instruments are Atomic Force Microscope, Raman Spectrometer, DNA Sequencer, Flow Cytometer and FTIR Spectrometer.
Deendayal Port Authority, Paradip Port Authority and V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority presented progress on Green Fuel Bunkering Hubs for alternative and green marine fuels. Kamarajar Port Limited reported that its coal terminals now have shore power facilities, allowing berthed vessels to draw electricity from land instead of running onboard engines. The government reviewed proposed green shipping corridors and port readiness for alternative fuels.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held a safety review at Rail Bhawan on 03 September 2026. The meeting directed strict action against poor-quality supplies and permanent blacklisting of suppliers in cases of deliberate negligence. Vaishnaw also called for maintenance and replacement of Overhead Equipment (OHE) components that have completed their prescribed service life, and improved workshop maintenance focusing on electrical circuits and fire safety wiring in coaches.

Acting under Article 338 of the Constitution of India, it directed the Chief Secretary to submit facts, action taken and related records within seven days of receiving the notice.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and State authorities rescued over 3,800 children during the Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign, held from 12 June to 31 August 2026. The campaign targeted children engaged in child labour and those vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. Over 575 FIRs were registered during the campaign.
The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has crossed ₹200 crore in cumulative Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) disbursements. The NBA has sanctioned ₹8.23 crore in ABS proceeds to 27 State Biodiversity Boards and 5 Union Territory Biodiversity Councils.
An awareness campaign has reached more than 34.56 crore citizens through nationwide awareness activities. Those reached include over 13.71 crore youth and 10.65 crore women.
The Roadmap for Integrated Tribal Development Agencies/Projects (ITDAs/ITDPs) and ITDA Operational Guidelines were shared with states and ministries. The documents set a framework for planning, governance and monitoring of ITDAs/ITDPs, aiming to strengthen institutional mechanisms and bring Central and State interventions together at district and block levels.
Government loan targets over the next five years are ₹10 lakh crore for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and ₹1 lakh crore for individual women members. Talcher Fertilisers Limited and NTPC Limited have applied for the Scheme for Promotion of Surface Coal/Lignite Gasification Projects, the Ministry of Coal clarified on 05 SEP 2026. The Union Cabinet approved the scheme on 13 May 2026 with a total financial outlay of ₹37,500 crore. It aims to convert domestic coal and lignite into higher-value products, including syngas, methanol, ammonia and urea.

The Corporate Mitra Course has commenced with 2879 learners registered in its first batch, under the guidance of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). The course has a total duration of 12 months. The Government of India announced the Corporate Mitra initiative in the Union Budget 2026-27 to provide affordable professional support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The Government approved the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 on 5 May 2026. It aims to facilitate additional credit flow of up to ₹2.55 lakh crore. It covers MSMEs, eligible non-MSME business borrowers and scheduled passenger airline companies. The scheme is operational until 31 March 2027, or until guarantees amounting to ₹2.55 lakh crore are issued, whichever is earlier.
The Common Research and Technology Development Hub (CRTDH) on Affordable Healthcare at IIT Kharagpur has entered its sustainable phase. Established in 2019 under the CRTDH Scheme of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, it meets operational costs through user fees, industry sponsorships and translational partnerships. It has facilitated over 20 technology transfers, many already commercialised.
CIL supplied 322.90 million Tonnes (MT) of coal during April–August of the current fiscal, 6.70% higher than the 302.60 MT supplied during the corresponding period last year. Supplies to the power sector in August 2026 rose 4.5% to 48.46 MT compared to August 2025.
